TOUR OVERVIEW

This is a 6-night guided tour of Botswana on a KTM 500, traversing breath-taking scenery alongside some of the most majestic animals Africa has to offer!

Traversing the south-eastern side of Botswana, following the Limpopo River all the way to the historical site that is Mapungubwe, this tour will truly take you on a journey less traveled, catering to the wildlife enthusiast as well as the motorbike lover.

The Tuli Ivory Wilderness tour will leave you breathless, weather you are an animal lover or looking to ride through the cultural heartland of Botswana we will cater to your needs. Highlights for the trip include seeing wild animals like never before, cultural star gazing, riding motorbikes where few dare to walk…

From river crossings on your bike to hearing the roar of Lions from your chalet, we promise this will be a tour you’ll never forget. The herds of gazelle traversing the roads is truly a sight to behold, as Botswana is known for its incredible & diverse animal live.

Our tour will take you on a variety of terrains, from winding sandy roads to river crossings and especially two track trails. Expect a diverse riding experience with the possibility of riding where giants walk.

ROUTE SETTING
Tuli Tours is responsible for designing the routes, ensuring that they are well-planned, secure, and captivating. Experience the most remote and captivating locations in the country over a span of 7 days, with all your catering and accommodation needs cared for.

BACK-UP CREW INCLUSIVE OF A MEDIC
During the entire tour, there will be a support vehicle available as a contingency plan in case of any mechanical issues. We will also have a medic on tour should any injuries occur requiring medical attention.

WILDLIFE
Witness wildlife like never before with our untouched safari camps and lodges, encountering nature like the ancestors intended.

FUEL & DIVERSE DRIVING
All fuel is included for a peace of mind as we traverse single tracks, sandy roads and large gravel roads that will fuel the adventure within you.

HEINE ENGELBRECHT

Join our tours with the peace of mind that you are in safe and capable hands.

Meet Heine Engelbrecht, who has over 35 years of experience in the motorcycle, touring and motor vehicle Industry. He is the founder of ADA Training and Outdoor Centre.

Heine has worked with a number of prestigious brands and hosted tours into Africa going as far north as Kenya and Tanzania – over and above being a certified 4×4 and motorcycle instructor, Heine is certified as CPR/AED + First Aid, Nature Site Guide Level 2, and a member of Field Guide Association of Southern Africa. 

JOHN GILBERT

The other half of the Tuli Tours Africa team – Meet John Gilbert!

John founded Tuli-Adventures (now rebranded to Tuli Tours Africa) and has been running motorcycle tours to Botswana from Johannesburg since 2016. He has visited the country more than fifty times in that time period. In that same year he completed a solo navigation of the perimeter of South Africa in just nine days on an adventure motorcycle!

John has been riding motorcycles for over 30 years and has a wealth of global corporate expertise, as well as vast travel and tourism experience, including having experienced Gorilla tracking at Five Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, to internationally renowned Safari resorts such as Shamwari, Londolozi, Mala Mala, Sabi Sabi and Kanana Okavango Delta. This has afforded him a fantastic frame of reference to draw on when designing tailor made itineraries. 

Example ITINERARY

The below is an example of a Tour Itinerary and is subject to change.

Day 1 will depart Johannesburg, South Africa and take us towards the border of Botswana and South Africa.

A relaxed dinner and short loop to hippo pools for a shakedown will be the start of our magical journey.

Approximate Distance – 494km on Tar and Dirt Roads

Accommodation Platjan Lodge

On Day 2 we will cross the border from South Africa into Botswana. This is where we have seen the last of tar roads for a while.

The days riding will be adventurous, and after a few sightseeing stops, we head to our next overnight stop for Dinner and a Cultural Star Gazing Experience.

Accommodation Kwadiwa Lodge

Another adventurous day of riding through riverine forests awaits!

Day 3 will take us into the Tswehe Wildlife Reserve and a highlight is the floor level hide, offering eye level exposure to elephants at a watering hole with a Safari guide!

Accommodation Lone Tree Camp

We spend 2 nights at the next camp, because of its surreal beauty and incredible wildlife experiences. 

At Tuli Wilderness, we will enjoy guided game drives and up-close experiences with African wildlife including the possibility of lions, leopards, elephants and much more. A bush dinner under the stars and a guided walk up to Eagle Rock will show you a landscape you will not soon forget!

On Day 6, we begin our ride back home, and after crossing the border back into South Africa, we have one last stop over in the incredible Mapungubwe, where we will enjoy the rugged and beautiful landscape and a Cultural Heritage Tour.

All good things must come to an end!

Guests will be returned back to Johannesburg.
